Item Number: AF-EX1
The Aftec...the ultimate 1911/2011 extractor and proudly made in the USA
This No-fail extractor operates with long-lasting coil springs for increased service life; provides enhanced, reliable performance for self-defense and competiton shooters. Machined from super strong, alloy steel; specially hardened and heat treated to last indefinitly and installs easily in Series 70 1911/2011 Autos without the need for slide modifications.
If you shoot regularly are you fed up with the periodic tweaking needed with a traditional 1911/2011 extractor?
The saying, "if it aint broke dont fix it" has never been more apt when it comes to setting the tension on a traditional 1911 extractor. Too tight and the slide doesnt go reliabily into battery, too loose and you suffer failures to extract the casings! You can just about set your clock on the fact that 6-10 thousand rounds down the line your extractor will need to be retentioned and worse still it will be trial and error to correct it. Tweak it, refit it, shoot it, tweak it. Does it work yet? Worse still how many tractors have broken while your in the middle of competition?
The solution is to spend the extra bucks and fit an AFTEC!
The traditional 1911 extractor depends upon stressing the steel, or more simply put, bending the extractor correctly so that it grabs the casing with the right pressure. Needless to say over time the extractor loostens or breaks under stress from the constant battering it receives.
The Aftec overcomes these weaknesses. You or your gunsmith will no longer have to depend upon tensioning your extractor, becasue the Aftec pivots instead.
Fitting the Aftec is relatively easy, but you will need to file your firing pin stop. Instructions are of course included.
Notes: If your 1911 has a firing pin safety (series 80 or 90) you can't use the AFTEC unless of course you are willing to deactivate it. The Aftec will however work with slight modification on most Kimbers.
If you are ordering for 9mm: Dont assume that your breech face is 9mm. If it does have a true 9mm breech face (like the SVI interchangable, some Caspians and Nowlins), order the 38 Super extractor. If your 9mm is built on a .38 Super Slide (most are) order the 9mm/38 super comp extractor.

Aftec solves problems

I had a Kimber Pro Eclipse that was giving me headaches feeding. I just could not get the extractor tension set correctly. Jonathon suggested an Aftec extractor. I installed it following the instructions. It was not hard at all. I had to radius the firing pin stop slightly per instructions.
The AFTEC cured all the problems in this Kimber. It worked so well, I have installed it in my other 1911s as well.
